09-08-2015 GAME THREAD: Once More Versus the Rats

Today's lineup, where we get to enjoy the Cuban battery, and hopefully, the Cuban closer:     Doug Gray tweeted this and I thought it graphically makes it obvious the Aroldis Chapman is an alien.

Losing a doubleheader yesterday was numbing, but losing yet another home game to the only other team in the central division within striking distance of the Reds is embarassing.  Maybe today's lineup will do better.

Hi All: SonOfDoc and I are heading down to the ballpark soon to watch batting practice on the field (it's a season-ticket perk). We'll then have dinner at the Machine Room and then enjoy the game together. Nice way to celebrate 59 years of being alive (and more than two decades of being a diehard Reds fan).

09-01-15 GAME THREAD: REDS V. CUBS AND SOME PLEASANT SURPRISES

by DocProc 1. September 2015 16:26
There's no debating that this year has sucked for Reds fans. So many things have gone wrong and the team has been a major disappointment. Nevertheless, as I look at tonight's lineup, I see several pleasant surprises: --Sweet Baby DeJesus is hitting .264/.348 and has showed aptitude at a variety of positions. It will be nice having him take over Skip Schumaker's role next year. --Eugenio Suarez is hitting .280/.315/.459 with 25 extra-base hits. His fielding has been erratic, but it would be great to find a place for his bat in next year's lineup. --Tucker Barnhart is hitting .272/.347 and has been a tough defensive catcher. He might bump Pena out of the backup catcher role next year, but maybe not if Mes ends up in LF. One way or another, it's nice to watch the young switch-hitter develop. --Anthony DeSclafani has pitched 150 innings and still has an ERA under 4 (3.84). He looks like a solid rotation pitcher for years to come. I should also mention that BP's .286 BA, Joey's .456 OBP, and Frazier's 30 HRs have been good marks for the team this year. Sure wish the middle of our order could hit with RISP and the middle of our bullpen could get and hold a lead.   /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} Bourgeois 8 Bruce 9 Votto 3 Phillips 4 Frazier 5 De Jesus 7 Suarez 6 Barnhart 2 DeScalfani 1
