04-04-16 OPENING DAY GAME THREAD

by DocProc 4. April 2016 12:42
Hi Everybody: Not sure who is still out there who might log in today, but welcome to another season of following the Reds here on Reds October. I'm heading down to the game today with SonOfDoc. The forecast is partly cloudy and windy, with temps in the low-to-mid 50s during the game. I'm going to bundle up because the wind-chill will be in the 40s before the game is over. If SDDennis checks in and has any poetry he'd like to share, post it in a comment box and somebody can move it to the starter box. Here are the lineups:

11-01-2015: Can The Royals Close Out the Series With a Win Today?

by Mary 1. November 2015 10:01
Just noticed that our thread had once again timed out, so am opening a new one.   Hard to believe that it's time for November baseball, but my calendar is telling me that is the case. While I would like to see Johnny Cueto pitch another outstanding game in game 6, I am hoping Edinson Volquez can pitch the game of his life today and clinch it for the Royals.  They are a fun team to watch and seem to have the magic this year that is often the decider in these series.   Here is Gene with his lovely new blanket courtesy of Statmom:

10-24-2015 GAME THREAD: Who Guessed the WS Would Be KC vs. NY?

by Mary 24. October 2015 13:09
Yep, the divisional and league championship series are done and only two teams are left standing. Fortunately, the team I am rooting for (KC) is one of those two.  So happy that the WLBs did make it out of the first round, and also not too unhappy that the Cubs did not make it out of the second round.   Let the games begin!

10-16-2015 LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP TIME

by DocProc 16. October 2015 12:19
I thought I'd throw up (not vomit) a thread starter in case anyone wants to comment on any of the upcoming league championship games. So we have the Royals and the Blue Jays, and we have the Cubs and the Mets. Quite frankly, that would have been my favorite foursome from the start. I'm still pulling for the Royals over the Cubs in the World Series, but that's not a strong pull and it's subject to change. What I would like most is to see some good games and for Johnny to shine.

09-26-15 GAME THREAD: THE SILENCE OF THE LAMB

by DocProc 26. September 2015 14:42
Can't remember who came up with Silence of the Lamb (Otter? Dawg? RF?, but I love it. Hope to get another strong performance from the young lefty. It's SonOfDoc's birthday today. That means it's the 31st anniversary of my becoming a father. Love being a dad. To celebrate, Son and I went to the casino and made bank at the Blackjack table, just like we did on my birthday a few weeks ago. We've clearly established a new birthday tradition. :-)

09-20-2015 GAME THREAD: Let's Add Some Separation From The Cellar

by Mary 20. September 2015 12:31
The Reds are now safely out of the basement in the NL Central.  Although it may affect their draft position by finishing better than MIL, I still would rather they not finish last   Today's lineup:
