Looks like Price is keeping the same lineup as last night. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If Billy has a couple more nights like last night, Brandon might not bat leadoff when he comes back.
Here's hoping for no rain delays tonight--forecast is iffy.

Man, the wind is out of my sails from this past weekend against the Mets. But I still care about tonight's ballgame because I have tickets for it. Right now the forecast isn't good...we'll see what happens.
BTW, no BP in the lineup....more aches and pains.

BP turns 34 years old today and has been playing as well as he ever has in his career lately. With 1.3 games to play today--rain, rain, go away--he has ample opportunity to show us some more of those fabulous plays at second, get mocked by Joey Votto on popups, and hit game winning HRs like he did after the rain delay and many innings in Pittsburg.
Josh Smith takes the mound in the second game, following who knows who in the first (could be anyone ex... [More]

Leake's pitching, so that means Barnhart's catching. It also means Pena is getting a nice vacation so far this week.
Gerrit Cole is 11-2 with a 1.78 ERA this year--could be the NL starting pitcher in the ASG. However, lifetime he's 0-2 with a 4.70 ERA against the Reds. The Reds also won the two previous Leake-Cole matchups this season. Let's hope those last two trends continue.
Brandon Phillips - 2B
Joey Votto - 1B
Todd Frazier - 3B
Jay Bruce - RF
Marlon Byrd - LF
Eugenio Suarez - SS

I think many (but not all) of us agreed earlier in the season that Jason Marquis (aka MdS) was not an ideal #5 pitcher in the rotation. Too old, too worn out, no promise for the future. I think a much better candidate for a #5 would be a guy like tonight's starter, Josh Smith. He's 27 years old and has compiled a 50-38 record with a 3.56 ERA in the minors. He averages 3 Ks for every BB and appears to be good for 6 innings a start. Tonight is his MLB debut. Here's hoping he demonstrates that he c... [More]

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads in the R.O. gang! Hope it's a special day for everyone. I'm looking forward to watching the Reds game on TV with one son, then having the other join us later for steaks on the grill.

Can the Reds keep playing as well as they have the past few days? Would be fun to watch if they do.

Okay, this lineup is much better than yesterday's--glad that game didn't get played. And hey, Marlon Byrd is back. That was one quick rehab.
Rain, rain, stay away.
