LAST DAY OF 2014 OBSERVATIONS

by DocProc 31. December 2014 08:08
Hey Gang: Just posting a new starter because the last one was closed. I know the Reds lost out on Seth Smith, but that doesn't bother me. Please note that Seattle is probably going to use Smith as a platoon player. His career splits against lefties: .205/.291/.314. I don't think that makes him an ideal candidate to bat in the 2-hole in front of Votto. Talbert, I understand your concern about Aoki being the "leftover" that no one else wanted--but that's because he's not as good a fit for other... [More]

12-23-14 - Merry Christmas and a Reds New Year!

by RedFaced 23. December 2014 13:22
Here it is just about Christmas, the Bengals had a big win last night and once again appear to be playing well leading into the playoffs.  Will Bengals fans be disappointed again this year?  I could say the same about my favorite team the Dallas Cowboys for that matter.  Also Talbert's Buckeyes are in the hunt for a National Championship, will they be able to take care of business against Alabama and stick it to the SEC Empire?  But this is a baseball site so here's some base... I thought I'd add a new thread since the last one is getting long and old. I assume that Walt cleared up salary room in the Latos and Simon deals so he could pursue a free agent LF. The targets have always been Aoki and Morse. So which would you prefer? While I've been lobbying for Aoki here (love his .350 OBP and low K rate), I remember two LONG home runs Morse hit at GABP last year. I think he could mash in this park. And his .334 career OBP isn't that far behind Aoki's. Most of all, he coul... [More]
